National analyst is already picking a Chiefs rookie to win 2024 award before playing a snap
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are used to having great rookie classes. They haven't had a bad one in a pretty long time. Not to mention, the Chiefs have one of the best and one of the youngest defenses in the league. They draft very well.

It's a rarity for Kansas City Chiefs players to win awards as rookies. In fact, they've never had an Offensive Rookie of the Year award winner, and the last Defensive Rookie of the Year award winner was Marcus Peters in 2015 - almost ten years ago.

It's not every day that an analyst predicts a Chiefs rookie for an award, so it's bound to pique our interest when it happens. One such instance is when NFL analyst Matt Miller of ESPN suggested that the Chiefs could have the Offensive Rookie of the Year, a prediction that deviates from the popular choices of Caleb Williams or Marvin Harrison. Here's what Miller had to say in a recent ESPN article:

Matt Miller: Xavier Worthy, WR, Kansas City Chiefs. Having Worthy, the fastest player ever tested at the combine, paired with reigning Super Bowl champion quarterback Patrick Mahomes makes Worthy the front-runner for Offensive Rookie of the Year in my book.

With everything going on in Kansas City right now - the Chiefs not really knowing yet what will happen to Rashee Rice in 2024, there could be potential for Worthy to have a huge season. He has the potential to have a better season than Rice had last year, especially if he gets off to a much hotter start than Rice did.

Worthy's shot at winning the award may be diminished if Rice plays every game and Hollywood Brown is much better in the offense than we all expect. Not to mention, there is always the Travis Kelce factor, too. But Worthy absolutely has a shot at the award - and the national media thinks the same thing has to feel good for the youngster.
