The beginning of the college football season is right around the corner and the Atlantic Coast Conference announced the week one clash between the Boston College Eagles and the Florida State Seminoles will take place under the prime time lights on September 2 at 7:30 pm and be aired on ESPN. It will mark the third time the Eagles begin ACC play against the Seminoles.

The game will be the 22nd meeting between the two schools and while last season FSU won the game, it was a hard-fought victory for the Seminoles as they emerged victorious 31-29. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos performed well for the Eagles with 305 yards passing and a touchdown, he added 119 yards and a score rushing during the game also (stats according to PFF). This season will mark the first time Boston College has opened the season against the Seminoles.

The 2024 season will mark the first for the Eagles' new coach Bill O'Brien in the ACC who became the team's 37th coach in program history. What better way to start than to take the field against the defending conference champions in Tallahassee? The game will mark the fourth straight game for Boston College to be on the ESPN and ABC networks.

For the Eagles, their spring roster consisted of 10 players from the state of Florida including four letter winners and three transfers. It will also see a return to Doak Campbell and Tallahassee for Eagles running back Treshaun Ward who spent four seasons with the Seminoles (2019-2022) before spending the 2023 season with Kansas State.

With a team entering its first season with a new coach beginning conference play on the road against the team that won the conference is an interesting start for the Eagles and Coach O'Brien. While the Seminoles saw a great deal of talent depart from their 2023 team they will still be a formidable foe to begin the season with. As the saying goes, to be the best you need to beat them.
