Virginia senior guard Reece Beekman was named the ACC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday (Jan. 22). Beekman is the first Cavalier this season to earn an ACC weekly award, which is determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel each week.

Reece Beekman delivered two remarkable individual performances last week to lead Virginia to a pair of victories against Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. First, Beekman posted 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals to lift the Cavaliers past their in-state rival Hokies 65-57 in the Commonwealth Clash on Wednesday night. Then, he recorded a double-double with 19 points and a career-high 11 assists to lead Virginia to its first road win of the season, knocking off Georgia Tech 75-66 on Saturday night in Atlanta. Beekman also had two more steals in the win over the Yellow Jackets, becoming the third Cavalier in program history to reach 200 career steals.

Beekman and the Cavaliers will look to win their third-straight game when they host NC State on Wednesday at 7pm at John Paul Jones Arena.
